The Toosey Old School Training Centre provides on-site training services primarily focused towards increasing the capacity within First Nation communities. Traning offered at the centre varies from small scale sawmilling operations to safety training, home construction and culinary education.
The Training Centre also provides a venue for training institutions to offer post-secondary courses on a variety of subjects. Training for equipment operator, silviculture surveyors, wildfire suppression training and assisted living programs for health care workers are just a few examples of the training opportunities that have been offered at the Centre to-date.
The Training Centre currently boasts a large gymnasium, with an adjacent kitchen and a classroom. Expansion plans for the training centre include increasing the number of classrooms, camp-like accomodations for instructors, students and workers and adding a full-range commercial kitchen on-site to offer catering services.
